Duncaster Elects Three New Board Members

Duncaster Lifecare Community recently elected three individuals to its Board of Directors. Duncaster's board consists of 19 members, three of whom are Duncaster residents. The newest members are George Kuchel, M.D., of Avon; Sondra King, of Glastonbury; and Bloomfield resident Mary Stoughton, president of the Duncaster Residents Association.

Dr. Kuchel is director of the UConn Center on Aging, chief of the Division of Geriatric Medicine and holds the Travelers Chair in Geriatrics and Gerontology at the University of Connecticut. Author of more than 100 scientific papers, including many on the influence of aging on the physiology of bladder control, Dr. Kuchel has a longstanding interest in community-based services for older adults with a particular emphasis on services that enhance independence and delay or prevent disability.

Ms. King served as director of Public Information for the Connecticut Association for Home Care, Inc. until her retirement in 2002 and still serves on the organization's Board of Directors. Prior to that, she was president of Middlesex Visiting Nurse and Home Health Services, Inc. She holds an M.P.H. in Health Services Administration from the Yale School of Public Health and Epidemiology.

Mrs. Stoughton is a Duncaster resident who has served as president of the Duncaster Residents Association since April 2008. Before her retirement, she was director of Christian Education at Christ Church Cathedral in Hartford and at St. James's Church in West Hartford. She also served as President of the Junior League of Hartford and on the boards of the Hartford Neighborhood Center, The Samaritans, Inc., and the Episcopal Society for the Increase of the Ministry.
